Western Front

After being plagued by constant problems on the current server (including the recent complete loss of data) I've decided to move Western Front to a new home. Hopefully this changeover period will be fairly transparent and with minimal downtime. As we have the two domain names - wf.com.au and westernfront.com.au I'll move one at a time. This means that between the two the site should remain up and running. So if you try one and it isn't working then you can try the other until the swap over is complete.

Soundworks Touring present the Australian/ New Zealand Ob(Servant) Tour 2008

Australian metal fans brace yourselves. After 3 skull splitting albums, 4 highly successful European tours, this years Summer Slaughter tour in the USA & the recent signing to Nuclear Blast, Australia’s metal wizard kings, Psycroptic bring you their latest wall of ferocity in "Ob(servant)". An album overflowing with trademark Psycroptic intensity, brutality & groove that, along with their new ally in Nuclear Blast, is certain to propel them into the major leagues amongst extreme metal worldwide. In support of this magnum opus, Psycroptic will tackle, head on, one of the most ambitious Australian tours ever undertaken by a metal act, that will cover every state & territory of this country.

This Saturday will see a gig at the Charles hotel which is also a surprise birthday show for a couple of people, and has a cool and diverse line up of bands. Newcomers Calopcia will have their brand of doom, black metallers Mhorgl, melodic death merchants Red Descending AND to top it all off, Sabotage - playing a full set of early era Black Sabbath covers, all faithful renditions!

Entry is only $10 for a great night of metal, and doors are open at 8pm. You'll definitely see me there (on-stage no less) so I look forward to seeing you down there too - Charles hotel, Charles Street in North Perth.

As you would know the main section of Western Front has been down for the last few weeks. It went down while I was in Europe so there wasn't much I could do about it from there. Upon investigating the problem when I got back I found out the hosting provider had deleted the database the site runs off, according to them due to some error occuring on the server. On top of this they had no back up of the database so that meant total data loss for us!

The only back up of the database I had locally on my computer was from September last year unfortunately - although this is better than losing everything. I had to install new versions of software and then the layouts of the existing site were incompatible so I had to redo that. To make matters worse my phone line (and therefor my internet connection) has been down for 2 weeks as well, hampering the progress.

Anyway I've managed to get the site up and running somewhat again, but some of the features haven't been added yet - these will be re-added soon. For any users that registered with WF since September 2007 you will need to re-register unfortunately due to the data loss. Apologies for the disruption, hopefully you will understand it was out of my hands.
